Job description:

Position Purpose:


The Student Counsellor is responsible for creating an environment which recognizes the diversity of students. This incorporates responsibilities associated with development of programs and services which promote the well-being of students and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on student support needs, referral and advocacy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct intake interviews with students who request counseling services and complete the required clinical documentation.
  • Provide individual counseling to students on a scheduled basis or through crisis intervention, and maintain supervision notes.
  • Consult with supervisors and staff.
  • Act as a campus resource on psychology and represent Counseling and Psychological Services in the university community.
  • Deal with the queries of staff and students professionally.
  • Participate in supervision and training with an openness to learning and receiving feedback.
  • Utilize psycho-diagnostic assessment procedures and psychometric methods to facilitate psychotherapy as needed.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Knowledge and basic skills in counseling practices and methods.
  • Ability to plan, implement, evaluate and report activities conducted.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to establish rapport with others as a requisite for healthy and therapeutic relationships.
  • Ability to receive and utilize constructive feedback regarding performance, presentation and relationships with others.

To Qualify For This Role, You Must Have

  • Master's degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology from an HEC recognised university
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience (fresh graduates are encouraged to apply)
